Daily Statistics table under Statistics section

@Shanze1: Should it be daily stat table or latest stat table? If it is daily stat table, shouldn't we display numbers for all dates? Timbaaa (talk) 01:57, 5 April 2020 (UTC)

I meant it for latest stats. Took the name 'Daily statistics' from the govt site. If you think it's misleading, we can change it. Shanze1 (talk) 02:16, 5 April 2020 (UTC)
Changed it to Latest Stats. Timbaaa (talk) 04:30, 5 April 2020 (UTC)

Patient list

The patient details available is getting lesser and lesser, most of the particulars in the table cannot be filled. Even the type of transmission can't be ascertained with the info govt is providing. So I think one of two things can be done to reduce our workload and also improve the article readability.

  1. Adapt a Kerala like style to summarize daily cases with limited info.
  2. Leave the previous rows as it is and update new cases like Kerala page does from now on. (Doesn't require a total overhaul of the table)

Share your suggestions to present this data better and also in a way we can sustain it. Thanks Shanze1 (talk) 15:17, 9 April 2020 (UTC)

@Shanze1: Yes, the Kerala model looks good. The "location" column could be made like the Kerala model and the "sex-age" column could be the total addition of males and females. You could also leave a 'not available' or some other phrase in the "origin type" column, that would be better. SUN EYE 1 17:23, 9 April 2020 (UTC)
Thanks. I guess we can make some changes to follow Kerala model then. "N.A." could help too with type of transmission but we already use "PTP" for 'unclear' origins. The confusion was, for instance on April 8(due to this partial info, we can't know which 42 of the 48 total cases belonged to PTP-TJ cluster. But we can overcome this with Kerala model. I'll look to make the changes. Shanze1 (talk) 07:59, 10 April 2020 (UTC)

Citation in lead

The first sentence in the second paragraph, referring to 881 cases being from the Tablighi Jamaat cluster, has two sources, both of which are out of date. Also, these give contradictory figures (maybe because they were published on different days), and the figures given in the lead are different from both. Anyone has an updated link? Also, we might have to rephrase the sentence, saying 'As of 12 April 2020, ... ' to prevent this issue in future. --Jose Mathew (talk) 07:19, 12 April 2020 (UTC)

I've updated the source and added 'As of' in front of the sentence. Think we can just merge the two paragraphs and remove the repetition of "As of 11 April 2020"? Shanze1 (talk) 07:23, 12 April 2020 (UTC)

References

@Shanze1: Can we cite tweets as reference? Timbaaa (talk) 05:12, 4 April 2020 (UTC)

@Timbaaa: Tweets are not reliable sources. But we can use official tweets to update the daily figures. Should refrain from using it for anything else. Shanze1 (talk) 05:25, 4 April 2020 (UTC)
@Shanze1: Okay, I shall not use them Timbaaa (talk) 05:54, 4 April 2020 (UTC)

@RamEsh-Basil: Possible to list 'single-source' by district to know the hot-spots across TN ? We has 90% from the 'single-source'. Knowing their location-wise data, may help future projections.

@RamEsh-Basil: Your idea is good. But, as of now there are no available sources that I can find for that. Govt doesn't even publish district-wise recovered or death data. We know some of the earlier cases' districts when the govt media bulletins had better information (until 6 April). Nothing after that. So we can't maintain this list even if it's created with the available older data. Let's see if the govt decides to release any info in future. Shanze1 (talk) 01:08, 14 April 2020 (UTC)

@Shanze1: Oh Thanks..

Testing facilities list

@Shanze1: Testing facilities list is also rising. Should we list them or restrict to mention just the numbers? Timbaaa (talk) 04:37, 15 April 2020 (UTC)

@Timbaaa: I think we can list them for now. We can lose them when it becomes too many to list. Shanze1 (talk) 05:01, 15 April 2020 (UTC)
Agree Timbaaa (talk) 05:53, 15 April 2020 (UTC)

Article structure

@Shanze1: I have made some restructuring in article, in template kept only the big table, moved latest stats table to Statistics section and moved districts w/o cases section to below the districts table. If they are bad, we can change it. Can we combine active cases with the semi log graph? and I can get pictures for containment, will they be useful? Timbaaa (talk) 11:53, 16 April 2020 (UTC)

@Timbaaa: Thanks for the inputs. I thought of moving the 'Latest statistics' table out too. But since it provided every stat at a glance, I thought it would be of use near the start of the article. It's fine, I think the stat section is where it belongs. We can add active case line in the semi-log too, but let's also keep the bar chart. It provides numbers which is useful. And yes, any good pictures you can provide regarding the topic is much appreciated. Shanze1 (talk) 12:51, 16 April 2020 (UTC)
@Shanze1: I have uploaded a new image. Can you check the caption, description and copyrights and all those things? Are they good, do i need to change any of those? Timbaaa (talk) 02:02, 17 April 2020 (UTC)
@Timbaaa: Everything looks fine. For licensing, it's the right one and you never need to worry about if you're the creator of the image. Shanze1 (talk) 04:57, 17 April 2020 (UTC)
Thank you Timbaaa (talk) 05:15, 17 April 2020 (UTC)

Tests Chart

@Shanze1:, @Givebacktosociety: I think, we should convert the testing charts from images to Template:Graph:Chart. For easier editing and updating in future. Timbaaa (talk) 07:35, 20 April 2020 (UTC)

Agree Shanze1 (talk) 07:59, 20 April 2020 (UTC)
Thanks for the information.Givebacktosociety (talk) 01:28, 21 April 2020 (UTC)
Done Timbaaa (talk) 07:29, 21 April 2020 (UTC)
Nice one. I think it's best to keep it in the testing section, like India article has.Shanze1 (talk) 07:49, 21 April 2020 (UTC)
Moved to testing section.Timbaaa (talk) 09:41, 21 April 2020 (UTC)

Notes to Active Cases in Infobox

Hi,

Since the data for the number of cases, number of recoveries and number of deaths inside the Infobox are fetched fetched from Wikidata. Althought in the government bulletin it is mentioned the 2 death case reflect to other states, the total count remains the same (18 in total right now) both in the bulletin and the offical dashboard. Since in Wikidata we are not adding active cases, i have made a equation for geting the active cases. So I have modified the code for active cases inside the Infobox and added note to it. -❙❚❚❙❙ JinOy ❚❙❚❙❙ 14:29, 21 April 2020 (UTC)

Noted Thank youTimbaaa (talk) 01:36, 22 April 2020 (UTC)

Rate of recovery

An IP user- 46.40.204.6 recently added new Rate of recovery column to the district template. I think it should be removed because it is unnecessary, cluttering and will also become added work moving forward. No other articles have it afaik. Share your views to reach a consensus in this regard. Shanze1 (talk) 14:24, 26 April 2020 (UTC)

Its not necessary of district level data. We have fatality rate number for state in the lead already, that is enough for this article.Timbaaa (talk) 07:01, 27 April 2020 (UTC)

Monthly Growth Rate and National Average Support Lines

On the Semilog Graph I've recently added the support lines for the case growth rate, but given the constant fluctuations the graph now has some unavoidable intersections of these line making them appear quite cluttered. Especially the National Avg will keep passing through at intervals. Although I find it interesting personally, I don't know if this data is useful for others. If its too distracting, it may be removed. 123.201.179.43 (talk) 17:59, 2 May 2020 (UTC)

Yes, they're cluttering and makes the chart unreadable. I'll go ahead and remove it. Shanze1 (talk) 04:14, 4 May 2020 (UTC)

There is a discussion ongoing whether to merge COVID-19 pandemic in Tamil Nadu/Statistics into this article. Abishe (talk) 16:51, 31 May 2020 (UTC)
