Graph Upgrade?
Our current new daily cases and death charts are getting large and hard to read. An alternative would be to use a less precise but easier to read style as used at Statistics of the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States. We could also add a "pretty" smoothed moving average line (but that would add to the daily maintenance burden). Rmhermen (talk) 22:04, 13 January 2021 (UTC)
- I like the first proposed one. Way easier to read. The text on the old one is too small and the graph is too wide on the second proposed one. TomCat4680 (talk) 14:59, 14 January 2021 (UTC)

Referencing problems
TomCat4680 your recent updates to the article have created several referencing errors. Are you able to fix them? Looks like you've just updated reference names without updating the actual references, which means that there's really viable sourcing for the changes you've made. -- Mikeblas (talk) 21:28, 26 February 2021 (UTC)
- My mistake. Just a couple of simple typos. Fixed. Thanks for letting me know. TomCat4680 (talk) 22:46, 26 February 2021 (UTC)
possible typo?
The death numbers for 4/15/2021 are not consistent. If the number of deaths was 112, the number of deaths should be greater by 2 than the number given.
- These numbers appear in multiple places in this page. Could you point out which one you are referring to? Rmhermen (talk) 21:35, 19 April 2021 (UTC)
- Our numbers match those of the source: [1] and the current state website total. Perhaps two deaths were retroactively removed. Rmhermen (talk) 21:43, 19 April 2021 (UTC)
Splitting Cumulative Figures Into An Average Across Days in the Period Reported
I would like to mention a talk subject I made at Template_talk:COVID-19_pandemic_data/United_States_medical_cases/Michigan#Splitting_Sunday/Monday_Cumulative_Figures_Into_An_Average_Across_2_Days. Although originally written for when the State started publishing cumulative figures for Sunday/Monday, it's even more important of an issue now that the State is only publishing figures on Tuesdays and Fridays. I wouldn't usually cross-post like this, but with that page being a template for this page, I think it's easy to be missed. Darlingm (talk) 22:11, 8 July 2021 (UTC)
The article is too long now
The article is now 65 kB, which means it should be shortened or split off per WP:SIZERULEs. Any suggestions as to how that can be accomplished? Love of Corey (talk) 04:53, 10 October 2021 (UTC)
- Hi Love of Corey, I'm guessing that the 65KB size is reported by the DYKcheck? (Which I don't have installed.) Scrolling through the current state of the page it seems that most of the text comes from the References and the statistics table. Running the tool through the template should yield a sizeable number. The only thing I can think of is to make the statistics table collapsable by default. I was going to suggest the same for the references table but this section (linked here) recommends against it. The page has not yet reached (100K + statistics table) for word count so I think it's fine as-is for now.
- Another option down the road would be to spin off the timeline into its own page (it would also take between 1/8th-1/9th of the references with it). Actually looking at it again, about 1/2 of the references come from the statistics table as well! Spinning the statistics page off into its own page first would make more sense in that case (and only show the graphs on this page). The template can easily be customized to serve both pages. --Stux (talk) 11:45, 12 October 2021 (UTC)
Citations
there are over 900 citations on this page- maybe the WDIV references should be condensed into just a few lines? Cassie Schebel, almost a savant. <3 (talk) 23:11, 13 April 2022 (UTC)
- All data must be cited, removing them would violate WP:V. TomCat4680 (talk) 02:52, 14 April 2022 (UTC)
- Consider splitting the table into its separate page; It accounts for over half of all citations! 26zhangi (talk) 12:58, 20 December 2022 (UTC)
Rewrite statistics and timeline
A day by day rundown of the numbers isn't necessary. It's best if we rewrite and condense heavily. Sink Cat (talk) 00:20, 16 March 2024 (UTC)
Deal with stats
That table really should be removed, or at least condensed into monthly sums. There's not much point getting daily statistics. Most articles of this kind (e.g. COVID-19 pandemic in New Mexico), don't host the corresponding table, because they are encyclopedia articles, not databases. — Alien 3

- I'd be fine with condensing it to monthly. TomCat4680 (talk) 19:13, 20 September 2024 (UTC)
