[edit]The software/hardware computer marketing industry seems to have recycled the word "core" to refer to one of several CPUs on a single chip. Back in the age of dinosaurs, mainframes roamed the earth. They had core, too. Core referred to little toroidal magnets threaded on wires. Each core stored a memory bit. A program that had been loaded into memory was said to be "in core." A failed program might produce "a core dump."
Redirect
[edit]Due to the large number of uses of the word "core", including several that use all caps, I think this needs to be redirected to Core again. Rhindle The Red 18:13, 27 January 2007 (UTC)
- This should either redirect to the Congress of Racial Equality due to number of links within Wikipeda for instance, as JHunterJ argued, or to Core as Rhindle suggests. The Indian Central Organization For Railway Electrification does not seem significant enough to warrant the exclusive redirect.Nklatt 14:31, 30 August 2007 (UTC)
- How you can say that Central Organization For Railway Electrification does not seem significant enough to warrant the exclusive redirect. Every articles have their own significance. Anyway you can redirect CORE as you want. Alokprasad84 04:17, 4 September 2007 (UTC)
- Because, as JHunterJ mentioned and I seconded, there are many internal links to the Congress. Also, if you do a Google search on "Central Organization For Railway Electrification" you get 23 hits, for "Congress of Racial Equality" there's 139000. -Nklatt 13:35, 4 September 2007 (UTC)
