pronunciation
[edit]Is it really necessary to write the pronunciation guide as "THAY-sar thay-DAY-nyo"? I could understand it if it was in IPA, but being written out like that suggests to me that it should reflect what the average English-speaker would say. You'll never hear anyone - announcer, manager, whatever - call him Thay-sar unless said person was from specific parts of South America (I'm not 100% sure if that is the way he would pronoounce his own name in Spanish). I move to change this to "SAY-sar say-DAY-nyo" or just nothing at all. Drunkasian 16:01, 17 October 2005 (UTC)
The pronunciation guide has since been updated to IPA. It was given as [ˈsesar seˈd̪eɲo] when it was first added but later changed to [ˈθesar θeˈðeɲo]. The latter is distinctly Castilian and does not reflect how the name is pronounced in Latin America (including the Dominican Republic) or the United States (as far as I know, there is no American Spanish dialect that uses [θ] though a few possibly use [s̄]). Since the "IPA for Spanish" guidelines allow for [s] where appropriate but also specify [ð] instead of [d̪], I am changing it to [ˈsesar seˈðeɲo]. Ed Oppty (talk) 17:19, 26 September 2014 (UTC)

[edit]Didn't Cesar Cedeno have children who were also major league players of some renown?? -- Barry Zuckerkorn 19:59, 24 January 2006 (UTC)
Is he any relation to Roger Cedeno?
