Orphaned references in Cántalo

[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Cántalo's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Reference named "Apple Music":

  • From Un Dia (One Day): "Un Dia (One Day) - Single by J Balvin, Dua Lipa, Bad Bunny & Tainy". Apple Music (US). Retrieved July 23, 2020.
  • From Tiburones: Citations regarding the digital release of "Tiburones":
  • From El Último Tour Del Mundo: "El Último Tour Del Mundo by Bad Bunny on Apple Music". November 27, 2020. Retrieved November 27, 2020 – via Apple Music.

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 16:26, 11 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox and lead

[edit]
  • Are you sure the performers are credited under their stage names as songwriters like you've done in the infobox?
  • "was co-written by" → "was written by"
  • "Rubén Blades and" → "Rubén Blades, and"
  • There is a rule that everything in the lead needs to be written out in the body, so the producers should be mentioned in prose there
  • "The song was released for" → "It was released for"
  • "from the extended play." → "from the EP." to avoid being overly wordy
  • "about the union and celebration." → "about union and celebration."
  • "received positive reviews from" → "received widely positive reviews from" for accurate representation of the body
  • "its lyrics and fusing sounds" → "its lyrics, and fusion of sounds"
  • The Panama position should be mentioned too, as number 13 is clearly notable
  • "Residente and Bad Bunny performed it on" → "Residente, and Bad Bunny performed it at"

Background and promotion

[edit]
  • Retitle to Background and development, as the release/promotion info can be moved
  • The "racist" part is not sourced, unlike the "misogynistic" part which you have not mentioned for some reason
  • "by this political protests" → "by the political protests"
  • "on his social media and" → "on his Instagram and" with the wikilink
  • "he shared a photo" → "Martin shared a photo"
  • "the single's release date." → "the single's release date as November 12, 2019."
  • "interview with El Nuevo Día he" → "interview with El Nuevo Día, he"
  • Cut down the amount quoted from Residente per WP:QUOTEFARM
  • "going on to call it" → "going on to call the song"
  • "He also describes" → "He also described"
  • The last para is all release and promotional info that can be moved to a section entitled Release and promotion; place this directly below Music and lyrics
  • "and streaming by" → "and streaming as a single by" with the pipe
  • Move the collaboration info to being directly after Residente's part from the newspaper piece since it is background info
  • "had previously worked on" → "had previously worked on the 2019 singles"
  • Remove wikilink on "Bellacoso"
  • [11] is useless here due to backing none of the sentence up
  • Remove pipe on Pausa
  • [14][11] should be put in numerical order
  • "was released on Ricky Martin's" → "was released on Martin's"

Music and lyrics

[edit]
  • "genres" and samples" → "genres", and references" on the audio sample text
  • "Rubén Blades and" → "Rubén Blades, and"
  • You should add the producers after the writers per my earlier comment, plus use the Tidal ref
  • Pipe trap to Trap music
  • "jazz and bossa nova." → "jazz, and bossa nova."
  • [11][20][9] put in numerical order
  • "several instruments including" → "several instruments including a"
  • If you know which drum it was specifically, then pipe to the correct article
  • Remove wikilink on trumpet
  • The last sentence of the second para should be its opening one instead
  • Target chorus to Refrain
  • "nods to the half-time tempo," → "nods to a half-time tempo," with the wikilink

Critical reception

[edit]
  • Retitle to Reception since the sub-section can be merged with this
  • Put the Billboard review in your own words for parts after the first sentence per WP:QUOTEFARM
  • "eye to injustice"." → "eye to injustice."" per MOS:QUOTE on full sentences
  • Italicise Hypebeast
  • "as "a cultural" → "as "[a] cultural" per changing the capitalisation of the source
  • Remove or replace PopSugar per WP:RSSM
  • "the result is 'Cántalo'"." → "the result is 'Cántalo'.""
  • Remove the sub-section but keep the award as its own para at the end to separate from the reviews

Commercial performance

[edit]
  • [35] should be directly after the comma
  • Wikilink Latin Airplay per MOS:LINK2SECT
  • "number 11 on both" → "number 11 on both the"
  • "certified Latin gold by" → "certified Latin gold by the"
  • "30,000 units.[43] Besides the United States," → "30,000 units in the United States.[43] Besides the US," per MOS:US

Live performances

[edit]
  • Regarding what I said earlier about a release and promotion section, move this to there as the second para
  • "Residente and Bad Bunny" → "Residente, and Bad Bunny"
  • "at the Latin Grammy Awards" → "at the 20th Annual Latin Grammy Awards" to avoid confusion
  • Mention the performance was at the José Miguel Agrelot Coliseum then mention that being in San Juan, Puerto Rico
  • Write about how he was at the top of the staircase and wore black per 47

Track listings

[edit]
  • Retitle to Track listing, as it is only one

Credits and personnel

[edit]
  • Use {{div col}} because this list is massive

  • Good

Release history

[edit]
  • [59] is not needed because the other ref backs up the info in full

References

[edit]
  • Copyvio score looks decent at 38.7%
  • Top job with the archiving here!
  • Wikilink NotiCel on ref 3
  • Fix MOS:CAPS issues with ref 6
  • Wikilink Apple Music on the first citation of ref 10
  • Remove wikilink on Apple Music for ref 15
  • Add (VG) in brackets after Apple Music on ref 17
  • Cite Hypebeast as work/website instead for ref 26
  • Remove or replace ref 29 per my earlier comment
  • Middle name should be cited after the first name for ref 31

Final comments and verdict

[edit]
@Kyle Peake: About "Are you sure the performers are credited under their stage names as songwriters like you've done in the infobox?", they are written as: "René Pérez a/k/a Residente", "Benito Martínez Ocasio a/k/a Bad Bunny", and "Enrique Martin a/k/a Ricky Martin". Should I use "René Pérez", "Benito Martínez Ocasio" and "Enrique Martin"? And if so, do I have to target them to their articles or not?

And why is [11] useless there? This sentence "All songs on the EP, except for previously released "Tiburones," are collaborations with artists Martin had never collaborated with" is used for the fact that it's the first collaboration between Martin and the other artists آرمین هویدایی (talk) 18:00, 15 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@آرمین هویدایی: You should use the real names only under songwriters in the infobox but don't target per WP:OVERLINK, plus keep their real names written in prose for consistency. --K. Peake 18:01, 15 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Kyle Peake: Thank you, and what about the latter question? Do I have to remove that reference or is it useful? I also has another question, should I write "Live performances" as a subsection or just the second para of Release and promotion? آرمین هویدایی (talk) 10:23, 16 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@آرمین هویدایی: It is useful, I must have missed that info when spot checking, my apologies. Regarding the sub-section possibility, do not create one and instead make it the second para of the section. --K. Peake 10:04, 16 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Kyle Peake: Thanks a lot. I tried to fix the issues, can you check the article once again to see if there is any mistakes left? آرمین هویدایی (talk) 12:55, 16 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@آرمین هویدایی: You did miss adding a comma in the comp section, but I copyedited that in due to an issue that had arisen after you implemented my suggestions also being present in that section.  Pass now, it definitely reflects that you have been on Wiki for years with your consistent responses! --K. Peake 13:49, 16 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Kyle Peake: Thank you so much. That's an honor for me to hear that from you as a professional wikipedian. I learned a lot from you and I will try to do better in my next works. آرمین هویدایی (talk) 15:42, 16 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
