Request Move
[edit]As google street view came out today it helped by showing whether names are now used on signs. Butterworth (Gcuwa) was one of the few towns (along with Nelspruit) where a name change hasn't yet caused road signs to change. Cities such as Mthatha/Polokwane/Mookgopong etc. have already catched on and are on signs. Butterworth is still used on signs. If no one else cares to discuss shortly then I will move it. Gcuwa → Butterworth, Eastern Cape –
- Unlike other town renamings in South Africa, Road maps, Google Maps and official signs ALL still only refer to it as Butterworth. I recently bought a SA Road Atlas, and although it has (very) recent renamings such as "Emgwenya" for Waterval-Boven and "Mbombela" for Nelspruit, it doesn't even SUGGEST that Gcuwa is another name for the town. I tried searching for official evidence that proved it was even renamed and found nothing (there must be something out there). Bezuidenhout (talk) 12:12, 1 May 2011 (UTC)
