Inverted-V style?
[edit]Now what the hell is the inverted-v goaltending style? — Dorvaq (talk) 20:05, 18 October 2006 (UTC)
- So the inverted-v style does exist, but the way NHL.com presented it, the style doesn't sound like a style at all. It sounds more like the stance you hold before making a save using the other two styles. I've been a goaltender for 15 years and according to the article, I use the inverted-v style as I wait for shots and then the butterfly style to save the pucks. Anybody else? — Dorvaq (talk) 14:31, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
- I agree with Dorvaq. The inverted-v is a stance, not really a style. Goaltenders can stand with legs parallel to eachother and perpendicular to the ice, but that tends to indicate a stand-up style. Goaltenders will tend to drop knees-over-toes and not get rotation. Inverted V makes it easier to drop the medial portion of the ankles and knees in toward the ice, and making both pads rotate 90 degrees 100% of the time when they are on the knees - this is pro-fly. The Butterfly is overused. All goalies in the NHL use the butterfly to some degree, it's whether they are pro-fly or hybrid types. Toskala, Nabokov are hybrid with Brodeur being the most old-school of all goalies now. — Sh00tr (talk) 18:40, 29 December 2008 (UTC)sh00tr
Percentage of shots less than a foot
[edit]Now I don't necessarily question the following sentence;
- "This style became very popular after it was calculated that a high percentage of shots on goal are less than a foot in height and is still evolving today."
as I have heard this my entire hockey life, but I believe a reference is important before we add this, thus my decision to revert. In addition, the point about the style still evolving today doesn't fit the rest of the sentence. — Dorvaq (talk) 14:53, 13 December 2006 (UTC)
