Re "replacement" for Bute and Northern Ayrshire

[edit]

I read In turn Bute and Northern Ayrshire was replaced in 1983 with Argyll and Bute and I suspect this is somewhat misleading. The Argyll constituency was abolished in 1983, and I suspect the Argyll and Bute constituency is more of a replacement for the Argyll consituency than for the Bute and Northern Ayrshire constituency. In List of former Parliamentary constituencies in the United Kingdom the constituency was divided into Argyll-and-Bute and Cunninghame North. Laurel Bush 10:23, 22 April 2006 (UTC).[reply]
