Providers replacing the busy signal to thwart auto-redial?

Over here where i live many phone (mobile or otherwise) line providers replace the busy signal with a recording saying somthing like "this line is busy", i've been told it is to prevent people from using auto-redialing (which i imagine might put some load on the network without actually paying them anything) ; does anyone got any more info on this? --TiagoTiago (talk) 01:04, 7 August 2010 (UTC)

I haven't heard of that specifically, but in some cases in modern systems where a "camp-on busy" facility is offered (i.e. dial a code and have the system call you back when the number you dialed becomes free), a message replaces the conventional busy tone to tell the caller to dial a specific digit to activate the feature. It's often combined with a busy signal though, e.g. in the BT network in the U.K. the message plays over a busy signal after the first couple of cycles, then when the message finishes the caller is left with just the busy signal. The option can be disabled if requested though. 87.115.28.87 (talk) 22:01, 19 October 2012 (UTC)

I just got a recording saying that the line was busy and about being charged for automatic call back only the busy signal was played after the message played. User:MrJoshbumstead —Preceding undated comment added 18:05, 30 August 2013 (UTC)
