Carson Robison alternative version

[edit]

Should there be some mention of the alternative version written by Carson Robison? [1]

Carry Me Back To the Lone Prairie by Carson Robison
"This song was written because Carson disputed the old song 'Bury Me Not On The Lone Prairie.' He could not conceive that a cowboy would not want to be buried anywhere but on the prairie. James Melton was directly responsible for starting it off to be a big number. He sang it literally hundreds of times in his programs and concert tours." —Catherine A. (Mrs. Carson) Robison
Carry Me Back To The Lone Prairie
Oh, carry me back to the lone prairie
Where the coyotes howl and the wind blows free
And when I die, you can bury me
'Neath the western skies on the lone prairie.
I'm a roving cowboy far away from home
Far from the prairie where I used to roam
Where the dogies wander and the wind blows free
Though my heart is yonder on the lone prairie.

Funny thing is, I was familiar with these lryics long before I ever heard the original folk version expressing the opposite sentiment. 73.25.139.224 (talk) 09:30, 13 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
