Worried

[edit]

This article is quickly becoming a photo gallery. I don't want to make edits that would change this with out talking about it first. Per WP:NOT, it's supposed to be an article and not a place where 'personal' photos should be exhibited if it takes away from the integrity of the article. Your thoughts? 2005 Trial

[edit]

Point #5 under "Present Issues" seems to imply the 2005 lane reallocation trial was started. It never was. Also it says the widening plan "interfered" with the reallocation trail when in fact it was an alternative. Rob_ (talk) 01:11, 3 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Bike Theft Increase

[edit]

The following text was moved from the main article page. Not sure how it fits in this document's scope. Is there a source available clarifying how this relates to the Burrard Bridge, or the lane reallocation trial? A better place on Wikipedia for this text might be: Transportation_in_Vancouver#Cycling

On August 24, 2009 the Vancouver Police Department announced a sharp increase in bicycle theft, with the first 3 weeks of August experiencing a 53 percent increase in thefts over 2008.[1]

Apparently the issue is being linked by members of the public, which suggests it should be discussed, as the Vancouver Police department specifically denied a connection to the trial. Constable Jana McGuinness, Vancouver Police spokeswoman was quoted as saying, "there is no link between the increase in bike thefts and the recent dedicated bike lanes on Burrard Bridge."[2] Thank you for suggesting the Transportation_in_Vancouver#Cycling article as well. I have included this content there, but I think it has a place in the Burrard Bridge article as well. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 15:05, 25 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, gotchya. I couldn't find any references from reputable news sources relating to public discussion of a possible link between the thefts and the trial, maybe you have found one? Anyhow, how about something like the following text? It seems to meet verifiability, and at least clarifies how the paragraph relates to the lane reallocation trial:
On August 24, 2009 the Vancouver Police Department announced a sharp increase in bicycle theft, with the first 3 weeks of August experiencing a 53 percent increase in thefts over 2008,[1]but VPD spokesperson Constable Jana McGuinness has said there is no link between this rise in theft and the lane reallocation trial.[2]
(wow, what are the chances, as soon as I saved this change, Constable McGuinness came on TV to talk about an accident downtown today) RodrigoWarrior (talk) 01:04, 27 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
That proposed text sounds good to me. Do you want to move it into the article? On your separate note - that accident is awful. Really sad. I passed by there today and saw things all blocked off. Awful. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 02:29, 27 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Haven't heard back from you, so I'll just go ahead and complete the move, since it is the language you proposed I know you agree with it. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 14:38, 28 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Awesome, yeah that text looks good. I was away/busy, thx. RodrigoWarrior (talk) 20:41, 29 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Dimensions

[edit]

Drawings must be in a city engineering office; possibly in the archives as well. Can an enthusiastic city employee dig up the salient dimensions? Length of approaches, length of center span, widths, clearance above sea level and etc. Regards, PeterEasthope (talk) 00:38, 26 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
