Not only pirates

[edit]

This article has the impression only pirates bury treasure. This is bullshit. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.94.120.191 (talkcontribs) 16:14, 21 May 2006

Yes, perhaps some information about other buried treasures would be good. Could even have a list. --121.44.113.174 14:57, 26 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This article is lacking in very essential information. Would someone like to compile a list of buried treasure in popular fiction? --Thanos M. Nixon (talk) 15:05, 19 December 2008 (UTC)Thanos M. Nixon[reply]

Treasure chest is just about buried treasure -- it doesn't talk about the chests, and hardly even mentions what might be in them. Ewlyahoocom 07:51, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

More than three years on, I've done so. I couldn't find material to expand Treasure chest to be a proper article, and most of the material was indeed about buried treasure, not chests. Fences&Windows 00:09, 9 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Viking hoards

[edit]

Numerous buried hoards of treasure have been found in Scandinavia, the British Isles and Russia. Here are three british hoards that have wikipedia articles: Cuerdale Hoard, Harrogate hoard, Sandur hoard —Preceding unsigned comment added by Haakenlid (talkcontribs) 04:33, 10 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Overloading the article

[edit]

Instead of overloading the article with events that happened, or alledgedly happened in Arizona...why not start a "Treasure in Arizona" article. Jim (talk) 21:34, 3 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Removed the subsection "Treasure in Arizona" as it is soliciting mythical buried treasures with no reliable references. If the editor feels the need to solicit possible treasure in Arizona, another article dedicated to Arizona's treasure should be created. Jim (talk) 20:41, 6 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Buried Treasure versus Burial Offerings

[edit]

I think a distinction needs to be made between treasure someone has buried for safe-keeping, with the intention to later retrieve it (i.e. pirates and such), and treasure buried with a burial or as offerings.

Basically, my point is that if the temple in India is to be included, then we should flood this article with any significant archaeological treasure, such as Tutankhamun's burial chamber. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sarke (talkcontribs) 06:38, 28 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
