The couture department at Fortnum & Mason?!

Under the heading "Career" the third paragraph reads "Following the war, he was invited to run the couture department at Fortnum & Mason." This is either wrongly stated, or simply wrong. "Couture" is French for "sewing", and in common usage refers to clothing above the level of ready-to-wear (or "off the peg"). Fortnum's is a provisioner and grocer. As far as I know they have never offered any clothing beyond incidental garments such as t-shirts, chef's smocks, aprons and the like. Bricology (talk) 22:35, 7 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
