List

If every person with a favourite sticker text reads this article and adds theirs, without putting into any order then it will be less and less like an encyclopedia article and more like a noticeboard. Suggestion - a new list in alpha order.User:SatuSuro 00:03, 19 January 2006 (UTC)

I'm not sure having a list of bumper stickers is a good idea. For one thing, most bumper stickers fail the Wikipedia verifiability policy, in that they have not been mentioned in a verifiable resource (say, the New York Times). Plus such an article might also run afoul of the No original research policy.

I'm sure some bumper sticker lover out there must have published a book of bumper sticker slogans, but copying that into Wikipedia might violate that author's copyright! --Coolcaesar 23:51, 21 January 2006 (UTC)

I don't use them

I don't put bumper stickers, signs, ribbons, or other stuff on my car. The only exception would be parking stickers at places that I work. The main reason is that they damage the finish on a vehicle, if you take one off after its on there for a while you can see where the sticker used to be. Also, certain bumper stickers with political messages are just about open invitations for someone to run their keys along the finish of a car.

It's an interesting fact, which the article doesn't seem to cover. At least in Sweden, stickers on cars have become very rare compared to, say, the mid-1980s. When you do see them today, they are mostly on worn-out cars with little second-hand value. Also, stickers here were normally on a side- or back window, not the bumper. It's unclear to me if that means this article is too narrow, or that another article is missing: one about similar stickers in other places on the car ... JöG (talk) 22:28, 27 June 2010 (UTC)

Better Picture

Removed entry

I removed the following addition because it uses terminology that is not popularly understood in the US. Can someone replace the Australian terminology or define before replacing it?

I hope you're not suggesting that the benchmark for language in Wikipedia articles should be "popularly understood in the US". This is an international encyclopedia, not an American one, and purely US terminology would be equally as bad as purely Australian terminology, though less so of course in an article dealing only with US topics. there's a fair number of hits on google for "bumper strip" and i hear one particular guy on the news use the term. is this canadian? british?
