Bull of Union with the Copts → Cantate Domino – Papal bulls are known by its incipit. Similar bulls from the same ecumenical council with similar purposes, such as Laetentur Caeli are listed and known by its incipit, not by "Bull of Union with the Greeks". Same applies with Cantate Domino. Brother Jerome (talk) 19:06, 20 August 2020 (UTC)
- This is a contested technical request (permalink). Anthony Appleyard (talk) 19:16, 20 August 2020 (UTC)
- @Brother Jerome: "Cantate Domino" can also mean Psalm 98. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 19:17, 20 August 2020 (UTC)
- @Anthony Appleyard: and "Laetentur Caeli" can also mean Psalm 96, yet the bull, and subsequently, the article is named by its incipit, and not by "Bull of Union with the Greeks". It is not uncommon for encyclicals and bulls to have the incipit of a Psalm, and therefore be known Brother Jerome (talk) 19:37, 20 August 2020 (UTC)
- Oppose Cantate Domino correctly redirects to Psalm 98. Laetentur Caeli should redirect to Psalm 96. In ictu oculi (talk) 19:40, 20 August 2020 (UTC)
- Support per WP:USEENGLISH. Rreagan007 (talk) 17:07, 21 August 2020 (UTC)
- Oppose per In ictu oculi. The WP:PRIMARYTOPIC of Cantate Domino is the psalm. Perhaps Cantate Domino (Papal bull) would be an acceptable compromise? Tevildo (talk) 10:40, 29 August 2020 (UTC)
- Oppose. Cantate Domino is a valid primary redirect to Psalm 98. Agree that Cantate Domino (Papal bull) would be acceptable, but only if reliable English sources favour Cantate Domino as the common name. Otherwise, keep the current title and create a redirect from Cantate Domino (Papal bull) to aid those seeking it by that name. (In either case it's a good suggestion.)
