What a Dab is

[edit]

Dabs exist to get users from a that could under our naming conventions have been the title for the topic they seek to that topic's actual title. Someone took the accompanying Dab for something incompatible and much less valuable, a list of titles that include the syllable "bull". A drastic corrective edit ensues.

Bull ensign

[edit]

    I removed

* Bull, status in U.S. Navy of bull ensign

with the sense (in United States Navy contexts) of the highest ranking ensign in his/her command, also called the "Bull Ensign", bcz the article makes no mention, and the Dab page can't provide more info than is needed to choose the entry that points to where the real info is.
There is no relevant info in the article, which not only makes it impossible to link to the real information -- it also raises the question of why a Dab entry is worthwhile if the article has been getting along without any mention. Probably this is something unsuitable for WP, that should be a def'n in Wiktionary instead; if not, work it into the ensign article in a way that hopefully will help convince editors interested in naval ensigns that it's worthwhile, note that you've done so at talk:ensign (rank), and wait a decent interval for responses before adding a new entry along the lines above, on the accompanying Dab.

Preparing an article.

[edit]

I propose to move this to Bull (disambiguation) and make this space an article on what is almost certainly the primary meaning of term, the uncastrated male of cattle, comparable to our article on the male horse at stallion. I have begun drafting this article at Bull/proposed article. Any thoughts? bd2412 T 23:55, 1 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The proposed article seems ready for mainspace to me. Does anyone object to the proposed move? If not, I'll undertake it tomorrow. Cheers! bd2412 T 21:33, 2 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Fully support, without any doubt that is the primary use of the term and should have this spot. BritishWatcher (talk) 21:38, 2 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
