Original research

[edit]

This article has no sourcing, and appears to contain original research. I don't think there is evidence of runic Bulgar letters going back to the fourth century BCE.VsevolodKrolikov (talk) 02:34, 22 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

no, the 8th century AD is closer to the mark. At Old Turkic script, we have evidence of the "Kuban alphabet" used by the Bulghars in the 8th to 13th centuries. I suppose this is what could be called "the Bulgar alphabet". I am not aware of any inscriptions found in Romania or Bulgaria proper, but it is of course possible. Just a matter of WP:CITE. The Peter Dobrev "decipherment" is WP:UNDUE. This should probably just be a redirect to Old Turkic script. --dab (𒁳) 07:06, 22 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A protected redirect. BalkanFever 07:15, 22 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
He derives the Bulgars from Sumeria. I'll redirect. kwami (talk) 10:55, 22 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

it may still be worth figuring out whether the Kuban alphabet is in fact also known as "Bulgar alphabet". --dab (𒁳) 12:20, 22 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I wasn't finding anything. Mostly I just didn't want this to turn into yet another racist/nationalist embarrassment. kwami (talk) 15:08, 22 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
