Requested move 22 September 2015
[edit]- The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the move request was: Bulakbashi (town) moved to Bulakbashi, Kyrgyzstan for disambiguation from the Uzbek town of the same name and Bulakbashi, Andijan moved to Buloqboshi for consistency with similar articles. Disambiguation page retained per retention of status quo in absence of clear consensus. DrKiernan (talk) 14:35, 9 October 2015 (UTC)
– There was a long-established article at Bulakbashi, about the village in Kyrgyzstan. On 2 Sept 2015 it was moved to Bulakbashi, Kyrgyzstan. In a series of edits from 19 Sept onwards its content was deleted and replaced by content about the town in Uzbekistan, and it was moved to Bulakbashi (town). I have reverted this article to the content it held on 17 Sept 2015, about the Kyrgyzstan village, to preserve the page history of the many contributors up to that date. Meanwhile, another page was created at Bulakbashi on 3 September, about the town in Uzbekistan. I have moved this to Bulakbashi, Andijan to allow creation of a dab page at Bulakbashi. Various other moves and copy-pastes this month have meant that redirects have been created with histories and the pages cannot be moved simply to their correct page names. If the two pages are moved as requested, we will have two pages at correct titles, each accessible from a dab page at Bulakbashi (I've put the text there, commented out, ready to use), and each containing the history of their creation properly attributed to the editors involved. - Support - Two towns with the same name disambiguated by country. Seems clear-cut enough to me. clpo13(talk) 07:47, 23 September 2015 (UTC)
- But that spelling is deprecated for the Uzbek town. cf. Buloqboshi District and most other towns in Category:Populated places in Andijan Region which use the current Uzbek orthography. — AjaxSmack 02:18, 24 September 2015 (UTC)
- Instead, why not use the correct spelling of the Uzbek town and there is no need for a dab page. Just use hatnotes. Thus:
- Comment: Is the difference between Bulakbashi and Buloqboshi just a choice of romanisation? So there might be an original language in which they are spelled the same? EdJohnston (talk) 22:48, 8 October 2015 (UTC)
- Comment: Neither of the articles has any sources, which doesn't help matters. In view of all the above messy page changes it still looks to me as if we need a disambiguation page at Bulakbashi. PamD 07:42, 9 October 2015 (UTC)
