Bukhakunga Secondary School is a mixed day School in Kakamega North District,Western Kenya.
HISTORY
The School was established in 1975 as a Harambee School,initially sponsored by the Catholic Diocese of Kakamega.The school later became a Government School in 1989.
TEACHING STAFF,STUDENTS AND EXAMINATION PERFORMANCE & REGISTRATION
The current School Principal is Mr Musi Ferdinand.His Deputy is madam Rebbah Barasa.
The Teaching Staff is composed of trained Teachers.They include; Mr Gilbert O. Shikuku for Physics and Mathematics,Mr Musi Ferdinand for Geagraphy and Kiswahili,Mr Etemesi Tom Charles for History and Kiswahili,Mr Otuma Wekesa for Mathematics and Business Studies,Mr Wesonga Patrick for Biology and Agriculture,Mrs Mulupi handling Chemistry.
The School population is about 500 Students with the ratio of Boys to Girls being about 2:1.Few Students benefit from Canadian Education Society,a non Governmental Organisation based in the Provincial Capital,Kakamega.
The School performs well in National Examinations,since 1999.Some of the Students who put the School on the map are; Philip Wechuli, Patrick Otunga, Adam Upande, Vincent Wekesa,Peter Murunga, Antony Masika and Priscah Mutswenje
The current National examination Code Number is 614601.
CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
The School participates in National Science Congress, appeared at Provincial competitions in Butere Girls' High School,2002.The team was led by Peter Murunga and Vincent Wekesa under the Chemistry teacher, the late Mr Charles Ogallo Obudho.
The School also participates in Provincial Net ball competitions.
PHYSICAL FACILITIES
The School has a good football pitch,small piece of land for Agriculture Projects,a non formal Library,a single shared Laboratory for Physics,Chemistry and Biology.
The School has milk animals for the staff.
There is a permanent bore-hole supplying the School with clean water.
ACCESSIBITY
The roads to and from the School are good, but become muddy during rain seasons.
The mobile phone network coverage around the School is good.
