Pesticides and nitrates

[edit]

I removed this section as it is unnecessary. These topics, pesticides and nitrates already have their own articles, and are referred to in the opening paragraph. Poltair (talk) 21:47, 9 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Merge?

[edit]

Into windbreak, or vice versa?Apothecia (talk) 22:20, 10 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I think that a merger would make sense, but I won't argue about the direction. It seems that there are lots more Wiki links to "windbreak" than to buffer strip - probably, because the former term is more commonly used even though "buffer strip" is a more general expression. A buffer strip is related to, but not necessarily the same as, a windbreak. If the pages are merged we would need to label the new page with a broader term--some subset of erosion control, perhaps--which could be confusing. We would also need to create redirect pages. Perhaps it would be more useful to use "See also" links and similar devices to cross-reference each page. 'Buffer strip' needs some more links and categories anyway, so I will add a few.
