Cage is a musician, not a political football

Mr. Cage has made it clear in a post at his own website[1] and elsewhere that he views himself as a musician first and foremost, not a citizen of one country or another (whose whereabouts by date, immigration status, and political attachments (or lack thereof) are fodder for label-inclined strangers; they're his business).

He's a guitar player. He followed the work. It took him to the U.S. He stayed more than not. He played and visited in Canada but ultimately put down roots in the U.S. After several decades in the U.S. he elected to become a citizen. That's all there is to it.

His actions reflect no hidden personal agenda. He's not a political football, and does not wish to be turned into one here. He is quite explicit about it, and asks that those who feel some personal need to idenfity him with one country or another desist. It is not germane to his career as a much traveled, much recorded, much enjoyed professional guitarist. Wikiuser100 (talk) 21:42, 26 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Date of death

Some sources say that Mr. Cage died on February 5 -- for example, the San Francisco Chronicle. Others say that he died on February 4 -- for example, Relix. Since the Chronicle is a major newspaper, I suggest that we go with February 5. But I'd be open to further discussion. — Mudwater^(Talk) 14:55, 9 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
