I don't think Ralph had learning difficulties, I think he had been traumatized by his father murdering his mother, before hanging himself. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.20.100.56 (talk) 23:17, 30 October 2011 (UTC)
Actually in the TV script which was published as a book in 1987 Nigel Hinton described Ralph as retarded and Terry did describe Ralph as a simple bloke which would prove he had learning difficulties. The word retarded has become pejorative over time so learning difficulties would be more appropriate to use in the article as the term to use in polite conversation. General readability
[edit]This whole plot summary runs on and on and on. It introduces new characters halfway through without explaining where they came from, uses too many run on sentences, and is generally hard to follow. It is written very informally as well, with no references for anything, especially the "Other Information" section. Can someone improve this article? I would but I have not read the book. - Little-angel-73 (talk) 01:11, 28 March 2012 (UTC)
I have provided info boxes which are more informative than text alone but they have been removed by an IP user who did not provide a reason. Wikipedia articles about books usually have an infobox often with an image showing the cover of the first edition. (Tk420 (talk) 22:28, 12 November 2013 (UTC))
Ralph is Buddy's uncle?
[edit]I don't recall that part of the novel, but it's been years. I remember that Ralph was King's nephew on his mothers side of the family, but I don't recall Buddy being related to them. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.6.9.58 (talk) 11:32, 6 October 2019 (UTC)
