Date of death

[edit]

Lebrecht says, initially, he died on "Thursday" (= 9 January), but later down the page, his student Garry Humphreys says he died on the morning of 11 January, following a brain haemorrhage. Whom are we to believe? Maybe he had the haemmorhage on 9 Jan but lingered till 11 Jan? -- Jack of Oz [pleasantries] 02:28, 14 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Date of birth

[edit]

1925 The Independent

Thanks for that. Garry Humphries was a student and close friend of Fairfax. Where details vary, I am very much inclined to accept Humphries' version, and have used this obituary to amend some details in the article. Such as date (1925; not 1930) and place (St Kilda, Melbourne; not Sydney) of birth, and date of death I referred to in the thread above (11 January 2014, not 9 January). -- Jack of Oz [pleasantries] 18:49, 31 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The text is ambiguous - is it Fairfax's performance or the premiere (or both) that is/are now available on CD? The sentence might be rewritten to clarify, but as stands not so much. ELSchissel (talk) 23:21, 20 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
