Obviously Gay

[edit]

This 'obviously gay' is uncalled for. The year the movie was made no one paid much of a heed to things like that. The idea with the characters was to portray people that were slimy. It was not a comment on the roles being gay or not gay or anything like it. This article is slurring the film franchise and reality both. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.213.94.94 (talk) 15:10, 27 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Rejoinder to the Obviously Gay comment

[edit]

I watched the referenced film, Diamonds are Forever, as a teenager the year it was released and I assert that the above comment is factually incorrect. Mr. Wint and Mr. Kidd ~were~ obviously gay and it was a very big deal to teenagers of my acquaintance. James Bond and other heroes faced many villains, some slimy and some not. Mr. Wint and Mr. Kidd were unique and contributed to the Bond frachise's reputation for being more cosmopolitan, more sophisticated than other action films. The humorous commentaries Mr. Wint and Mr. Kidd offer after assassinating each of their victims may have done more to humanize gay people to media consumers than some of the faux-heroic media portrayals of gays in the same era.

On the other hand, I watched the movie at least 20 times before reading on Wikipedia the characters were gay and nothing about their dialogue or performance indicates that, as far as can tell... maybe I need better Gaydar - or maybe it's just irrelevant to their characters in the film. At any rate, unless the idea that they were 'obviously gay' appeared in reliable sources it doesn't belong in Wikipeia, period. See WP:V. Dlabtot (talk) 04:50, 11 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hard Times

[edit]

The film Hard Times (1975) is incorrectly referenced as 1973 and the link is to the Dickens novel, although there is a Wikipedia article on the 1975 film in which Bruce Glover appeared.

Movies

[edit]

Possible error in page claiming an appearance in "Ghost World" instead of "Ghost Town." 24.99.48.115 (talk) 12:37, 27 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Ghost World and Ghost Town are two different movies, both of which to my knowledge featured Glover DervotNum4 (talk) 17:12, 27 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
