Death date
[edit]So far we have two death dates. April 20 and May 6, 2017. Both can't be true. I think the April 20 is more reliable. Partly because it's closer in time (The May 6 date doesn't appear until January 2019, over a year after his death). But also because even tvtonight.au reports April as the death date. https://tvtonight.com.au/2017/12/2017-in-memoriam.html. I tried to contact the author of the book to find out where he got his info from but the email adress to him was unvalid. Also, the Gympie Times article is from his hometown. I think we should stick to April 20 date. What do you say? DrKilleMoff (talk) 19:09, 7 August 2020 (UTC)
- I see that Val Jellay, another stalwart of The Flying Doctors, died on 6 May 2017. Coincidences like that are certainly possible. But it's also possible someone got their wires crossed and connected Jellay's death date to Barry. Both sources we have seem to be reliable, and it's hard to pick one over the other. Perhaps we can list 20 April, but with a footnote advising that a 6 May death is also published. -- Jack of Oz [pleasantries] 00:35, 8 August 2020 (UTC)
@JackofOz:. I thought the same thing. That Barrys death date got mixed up with Jellay. Esp since the May 6 as i said didn't appear until January 2019 but the first reports about his death that I could find was on July 16, 2017. The footnote seems like a good idea. Bruce Barry helps a young actress gain admission to NIDA
[edit]I met Bruce Barry when I was a professional actor in about 1975, we were both in an episode of an ABC TV production (can’t remember which) and he said that he needed needed a place to live. I was about to leave for an Australian tour of Two Plus Two Makes Sex starring Patrick Cargill, and I suggested that he might like to rent my recently purchased house in Annandale for the duration. He accepted and during his stay I learnt that my sister Katrina Foster was wanting to audition for NIDA and she needed help to prepare for the audition. Somehow I put them in touch with each other, Bruce tutored her and as a result she was accepted into the National Institute of Dramatic Art. 120.150.152.228 (talk) 02:18, 27 March 2022 (UTC)
