Possible copy violation

[edit]

This text is identical to http://soundmaven.com/artist/browning%2Bmummery/ (click read more). Not sure who copied who and if there are copyright issues. Superp (talk) 15:32, 18 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

My impression is that the Soundmaven.com site has a version of wikipedia's article. The site appears to have first been registered in 2008. According to their own About tab, "Soundmaven.com is an ad-free non-commercial website that tends to collect news, streaming tracks, music videos, album reviews and song lyrics in one convenient place. It gathers and displays third party data retrieved from several well-known Web services (such as Flickr, Amazon.com and YouTube). We do not modify or store this information in our databases."
If you check the bottom of their 'Read More' entry on Browning Mummery you'll find, "User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License and may also be available under the GNU FDL."
An article history search here shows almost identical content was on wikipedia on 3 September 2007. If there is any copy violation involved it does not appear to be by wikipedia.shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 20:11, 18 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Ordinarily I don't sign when assessing or adding-in templates but only place an edit summary of any changes made. In this case, I added the Biography plate and assessed the article as Start/Low for the projects.shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 20:11, 18 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
thanks, I wasn't sure if I was meant to sign the plate or not. thanks for the tip & for rating the article :) Kathodonnell (talk) 01:32, 19 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
