Long Construction Time
[edit]Can any reason be given for the unusually long period for constuction of the Central Library? Construction began in 1912 and was completed in 1941

New Image is needed

Relationship with Queens and NYPL
[edit]NYPL and BPL accept each others members, but Queens does not. I've corrected the article.--Jeff (talk) 21:01, 7 January 2008 (UTC)

Crime or controversy section needed
[edit]This library has been the subject of wikiworthy crimes and/or controversies worthy of an encyclopedic article. For example, the library's Internet computers were used so much for porn that the library shut them down for a while. And just this week a rape occurred in the bathroom and the librarians were not even aware.
Now since I have commented on the latter (Retarded Teen Raped in Library Bathroom and Library is Unaware), and for other reasons, I should probably not write the section, but I can certainly suggest such a section should be considered.
When the 5th largest library shuts down its Internet due to excessive porn or when rapes occur and no librarian notices, that seems quite encyclopedic to me. What do others think about such a section? --LegitimateAndEvenCompelling (talk) 23:26, 14 May 2008 (UTC)
Apparently, there was also a major controversy regarding the firing of some employees in or around August 2009. It supposedly caused the resignation of the BPL director. More here. --LegitimateAndEvenCompelling (talk) 06:14, 11 March 2010 (UTC)

New photo?
[edit]I took this panorama of the main library recently. Posting it here to see if others think it belongs in the article. The current infobox photo is good quality -- the main thing I think this one has going for it (other than resolution, which doesn't really add that much in the infobox) is light/sky. — Rhododendrites talk \\ 17:54, 12 July 2021 (UTC)
- I support it. Any opposition? Filetime (talk) 20:10, 17 December 2021 (UTC)
Original headquarters
[edit]Is this the original headquarters on Montague Street that was mentioned in the article, and if so, where on Montague Street was it? -------User:DanTD (talk) 20:19, 1 February 2023 (UTC)
