Proposed merge of Bronze laver
[edit]The same terminology appears in the Bible for the laver in the Tabernacle (Exodus 30:18) and for the ten basins in Solomon's Temple (1 Kings 7:38): "laver of brass" (Mechon-Mamre and KJV), "basin of bronze" (ESV), "bronze basin" (NIV).
The page Bronze laver used to redirect to this page Brazen Laver. In 2014, BobKilcoyne (talk · contribs) made it a short article about the laver in the Tabernacle. The latter is already described at Molten_Sea#The_Laver_of_the_Tabernacle.
I propose that the content at Bronze laver be merged to the page Molten Sea, and this page Brazen Laver then be moved to Bronze laver with a hatnote about the laver in the Tabernacle. – Fayenatic London 07:33, 7 October 2017 (UTC)
- Oppose: These are two distinct objects, albeit with overlapping origins and meaning. StAnselm (talk) 09:42, 7 October 2017 (UTC)
- @StAnselm: If not merged, then what? Disambiguate both by moving to Bronze laver (Tabernacle) and Bronze laver (Temple), perhaps? – Fayenatic London 11:15, 7 October 2017 (UTC)
- Yes, that would work well. StAnselm (talk) 17:43, 7 October 2017 (UTC)
- @StAnselm: I have moved Bronze laver (Temple), leaving the other as I thought it would be the primary meaning (despite the relative lengths of the articles). – Fayenatic London 09:21, 9 October 2017 (UTC)
