Talk:Bronze-winged Pionus
A bronze wing pionus has very similar characteristics as the white-crowned, both physically, and, mannerisms, my wife and I have had a Bronze-winged Pionus for 9 years. Our Bronze-Winged is named "Bump" which is a very fitting name for her, as in "Bump On A Log", as she does not make a lot of noise, nor does she do many tricks, she definitely has a mind of her own. Bump is a very lovable pet. She enjoys being out of the cage with us and playing before nite-nite. She loves for my wife to pet her head, she will walk over to my wife and plop her head down to let her know it's time to pet her head. She loves to play with knotted toys, she will work for hours and hours to untie a knot. A peanut is like a cigar to her, she loses more of the peanut than she actually eats, she will use the shell as if it were a spoon holding with her foot taking bites of the nuts inside. These birds do love to eat, we had her wings clipped for the first two years we owned her and she got very heavy, we decided to not clip her wings and allowed her to fly between 2 or 3 rooms of the house and she did lose weight, they need exercise.
