Aquahung

[edit]

"Aquahung"?! Can we get a citation for this please?Shoreranger 23:42, 18 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I agree, I've never heard of this name, plus it seems like a pretty huge coincidence that Native Americans would have used "aqua", a Latin word for water, when naming a river before they met any Europeans. Onlynone 17:27, 18 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I thought the same, but [NYTimes page], among many other online sources, seems to support its use. I'm thinking that instead of seeing it as aqua + hung, to hear it like the word quahog, for example. Mang (talk) 20:39, 21 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Either the article is incorrect in that its uses the spelling aque; or the mural in the Bronx County Courthouse is wrong, in that it uses Aqua. Current event?

[edit]

Eh? Events are always happening everywhere. Bronx, Mississippi River, Lake Baikal, whatever. That doesn't mean every geographical article carries a current event flag. Jim.henderson 21:12, 23 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ecology

[edit]

In February 2007 biologists with the Wildlife Conservation Society, which operates the Zoo, spotted a beaver (Castor canadensis) in the river. "There has not been a sighting of a beaver lodge or a beaver in New York City for over 200 years.

--> Beaver (Castor canadensis) were found in NYC in 2003 at Mariner's Marsh Park, Staten Island, NY, by Nathanael McVay and Alexander Summers. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.250.242.103 (talk) 19:52, 14 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Winter scene location?

[edit]

I've been asking about this one image of the river, but nobody has answered me yet. ---------User:DanTD (talk) 01:03, 22 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Is this in The Bronx, Yonkers, or somewhere further north?
