British or English?
[edit]It used to be the case that British wine referred to wine made from imported grapes, while English wine was reserved for wine made from grapes grown in England and (confusingly) Wales. This usage continued at least until 2001—see the section on English and Wales in that year’s edition of The World Atlas of Wine ISBN 1 84000 699 4.
Has there been a recent change? Or should we consider moving the page? —Ian Spackman 11:43, 29 July 2006 (UTC)
According to the website English-Wine.com (to which there is a link in the "external links" section of this article), this distinction between British wine and English wine still applies and is enshrined in law.
You are right. I have moved the original page to English wine (with a few minor changes), and rewritten this page. --Portnadler 17:18, 12 September 2006 (UTC)
