VC/GC

In the 'Awards' section, para 3, it states: '... the Victoria Cross would have been correct recognition but for some reason was not awarded. Capt. Mason could not have been awarded the VC since he was a civilian.'

I'm a little confused by this extract, particularly the first bit.
What do other editors think?

@RASAM: I have removed the first part as unsourced speculation. The second appears to be correct but is unreferenced. I have left the second part in the article. From Hill To Shore (talk) 02:13, 11 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
