Suggestions for expansion
[edit]Fine as far as it goes (I recognise parts of it :)) but needs much more detail on why Belgium was important (eg the 1839 Treaty) and why it was the one guarantee of united support for the war.
I think the article would also benefit from explaining why 'latent anti-German feelings' existed - its not obvious, especially given the close links between the Royal families, the number of Brits who studied in Germany and vice versa etc.
I don't think you can categorise Liberals versus Conservatives quite so black and white 'The Liberal Party was identified with internationalism and free trade, and opposition to jingoism and warfare.' That's a very sweeping statement.

- This article is a fabrication and pays no attention to the contemporaneous documentation available. Particularly the opinion of the German Imperial Ambassador to England, Prince Lichnowsky. It is an irrelevant and inaccurate twisting of the true situation which does not stand up to even the most cursory examination. 2403:5808:1216:0:D9CA:51D7:96FE:F457 (talk) 03:21, 8 November 2024 (UTC)
