Ethnic restrictions in the British Properties

[edit]

These were abolished sometime in the 1960s, but British Properties was known/infamous for its buyer restrictionss, which prevented Jews and Chinese and others from buying houses there; the name British Properties was in that context a marketing tag, implicitly meant to entice white buyers of British background. I don't have a cite on this but it's an important part of BP's history; a cite must be out there somewhere.Skookum1 (talk) 13:54, 13 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes it's true, but I can't find a source for it. On another note, this article is terrible, it doesn't even qualify as a stub class. Paskari (talk) 16:37, 10 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Remove Photo

[edit]

The photo of the cabin should be removed. 15 Street and Ottawa Avenue is not in the British Properties.

whites-only policy

[edit]

It doesn't seem to be in that cite, but as I recall this policy also affected Jews.Skookum1 (talk) 05:40, 22 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Added a reference. Canuckle (talk) 05:53, 22 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

modern household language

[edit]

re "It is said that residents are just as likely to speak Farsi (Persian) or Mandarin", this should be in the census data; presuming that StatsCan uses the BP as a sub-census area of West Van.Skookum1 (talk) 06:06, 22 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
