Duplication

[edit]

Close paraphrasing

[edit]

I've removed the CSB tag for the url http://www.bmoc.maths.org/home/history.shtml . After reviewing the Duplication Detector report and comparing the article directly to the source, I believe this is more of close paraphrasing as opposed to a blatant copyright violation. The infringement was much more blatant in old revisions; whole paragraphs were copied. I have deleted some of those old revisions. Thanks, — madman 00:14, 27 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I'm a bit confused. :) Coming in to this in February, it looks like blatant copying was still an issue. For example:
The source The article
In 2000, the BMOC set up its first mentoring scheme. This involved around 25 students who were all in serious contention for a place in the IMO team in the current or following session. The 8 mentors were all “Old Olympians” who had gone through the IMO system and were keen to give something back. In 2000, the BMOC set up its first mentoring scheme. The whole rest of the paragraph continued in that vein. The history section had some attempt at paraphrase, but this paragraph doesn't even offer that. Anyway, I've purged the content, but if there's something I'm missing, please let me know at my talk page or fix it. :) --Moonriddengirl (talk) 13:32, 28 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
