To note
[edit]PLEASE READ AND STICK TO THIS FOR SEMI-FINALS TABLE
Just a quick note; with 'singers' there are three genres
- Singing
- Music
- Performance
Generally, the majority go under singers. In act you can then put 'Pop', 'Opera', 'Rock', 'Acapella' etc...
However, singers that perform with instruments count as musicians and go under genre music with act being 'Guitarist & Singer' or 'Pianist & Singer' as examples. Of course, this genre also counts for people that just play instruments e.g 'violinist'
The final category is for singers who put on a performance. This often includes dancing, or musical theatre. Performance Singers are the acts which are praised often for their 'fun' element, rather than their singing element. Essentially, their acts whose singing is second to the perfomance value of the act. It's key to distinguish these from the standard singers (see previous years). For example in the current series Christian - David's golden buzzer - would be classified a performance singer and therefore would go under 'performance' in genre.
List of complete genre's is below - please add any if missed:
- Animal
- Circus Skills
- Comedy
- Dance
- Gymnastics
- Magic
- Music
- Performance
- Singing
- Stunt
- Sport
- Variety
If an act falls in between more than one genre, put prominant genre first. For example a comedy dance act would primarly be a dance act with comedy elements, in most situations. Thus the genre would be 'Dance/Comedy'. If it was a comedy act with sections of dance it would be 'Comedy/Dance'.
Please note all dance is under one genre - under act you then add more details e.g 'Line dancing', 'Country dancing', 'Hip-hop' etc...
Sport acts may include people who perform football skills or synchronised swimmers. Stunt artists, are often, the more extreme acts.
Finally, plaese ensure that when the time comes, the act put next to each name on the indivdual semi-final nights matches that listed in the main semi-finalists table. Thanks. Bruno Russell (talk) 08:36, 21 April 2014 (UTC)
- I don't agree with some of these. The categories should only be listed as those which agree with other series' tables - so singing, music (i.e including an instrument or no vocals), dance, magic, comedy and miscellaneous. If we're keeping with how the other tables look, that would mean no performance, sport, etc etc. And how would you differentiate a 'performance' act such as Jodi from a 'singing' act such as Kieran & Sarah, despite them both singing songs from musical theatre? For all we know, Jodi could sing a completely different genre of song in the semi-finals, as could, say, Christian. There is a quandary with the Kony Puppets, as they're both a puppet and dance act. So I guess it's there that the 'act falling into more than one genre' thing would work. StigOfTheKrump (talk) 09:05, 26 May 2014 (UTC)
- I think there needs to be a noted difference between 'performance' and just 'singers;. If they perform a different style between audition and semi - which I think is rare - I think the semi final style should be put on the list. Do you agree?
Thank you for your help Bruno Russell (talk) 12:47, 26 May 2014 (UTC)
- If their act does not strictly rely on singing (i.e. they dance as well or perform as Christian does), then perhaps, but I think that's a detail that should be listed in the act details rather than the category itself. StigOfTheKrump (talk) 16:46, 26 May 2014 (UTC)
Golden Buzzer
[edit]In the "Live shows" section, it has a wikilink to David Walliams, but has it piped so it appears Britain's Howie Mandel. Should it be like this, or should it just be David Walliams? Ollieinc (talk) 07:26, 30 April 2014 (UTC)
- Thank you for noticing - this should just go to David Walliams' page - can someone please change this were applicable. Bruno Russell (talk) 17:02, 30 April 2014 (UTC)
