This is a fine article about Brio. There are some things that could be added but I'm not sure of myself to add them.
a) Wasn't DataPivot an early Mac program that was only later moved to Windows? If Apple today had fun business tools like Brio, it would do better in the corporate back offices.
b) The data pivot feature in Brio used a real data pivot, that is, you literally grabbed a row/column of data and pivoted it to a column/row. I have still not seen anything like it, certainly not Excel.
c) The name Brio conflicted with the Scandinavian toy maker but Brio(this technology company) was the first to www.brio.com.
d) The name Brio was from the musical instruction "con brio", with spirit. The company had some of that spirit in its workforce but I think it was lost in the merger.
e) Katherine Glassey, who may have written the original article, wrote a book about data warehouse techniques. She was a hero to some of us.
