Class project to research, rewrite sections of the BSU Wikipedia page

I am an instructor at Bridgewater State currently teaching ENGL 101: Writing Rhetorically (Fall 2011). For their final project, my students will be researching and rewriting portions of this Wikpedia page. For more information or to make suggestions, please email d1copeland@bridgew.edu/.

Kudos to whomever added the sections concerning notable alumni and faculty.

There's a new residence hall, currently unnamed, that will open for Fall 2007.

Claim to having only commuter rail station on campus

Under the trivia section I am not sure that the claim that Bridgewater has the only commuter railroad station stop on campus is correct. At least to my knowledge, the Stonybrook station of the Long Island Rail Road on Long Island, in Stonybrook NY, is, if not on the campus proper, then at least incredibly close. All source maps indicate the station's location as being on State University of NY land, or so it appears. Can anyone clarify? If correct...amend? Dingno (talk) 06:00, 7 December 2007 (UTC)

The issue seems to lie in the use of the clarification "MBTA" later in the sentence. If you take that into consideration, it automatically excludes using colleges outside Massachusetts as an example. If you delete the clarification of "MBTA" then the sentence is erroneous. My two cents, at least. Sahasrahla (talk) 21:38, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

Kappa Delta Phi?

What's the point of including the Kappa Delta Phi sentence? It doesn't fit as a stand alone sentence. It should either be removed, or given it's own section altogether.

Majors and programs BSU offers...

I have visited all the other state universities wikipedia pages and they all have in depth details about the majors. Brigewater doesn't have much. Can you please a that! Thank you! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.104.149.74 (talk) 01:21, 29 July 2010 (UTC)

Removed some alumni with no articles

Alumni are supposed to be listed only if they have articles. I checked the notability of the following and removed them since I don't believe I could write an article on them (yet); I'm redlinking them here except for McCarthy, who would need a to be determined disambiguator.

  • Denise Cormier: actress, does not appear to have achieved notability yet
  • David Flynn (politician): had a reference here, but state politicians are not automatically notable. David B. Sullivan has an article but appears to me of dubious notability; someone who disagrees may be able to write a similar or better article on Flynn so that he can be included
  • Michael McCarthy: plays for an (American) football team in Switzerland that is in a non-professional league; added prematurely
  • Rob Ruggiero: has recently been signed to the practice squad of a professional football team; added prematurely
