disambiguation page??

I'm here looking for information on the beast "Briareos" of whom the author Milton cites in his epic poem Paradise Lost. Expansion of Article and Fair Use

Several of the Appleseed publications include character sketches and design notes, and there are some interesting differences between Briareos as he appears in the manga vs. the OAV/movies. For example:

• In the manga, Briareos has shotguns built into his forearms for close assault. He never uses these in any of the movies, but in Ex Machina has spare clips for his sub-machine guns stored in his forearms instead. Maybe the parts are modular and he can switch them out as needed...
• Briareos has boosters mounted in nodules around his knees, allowing him to make jet-assisted leaps when not wearing a Landmate. He uses them extensively in the first volume of the manga, but not in the movies. I find this odd given that the 2004 movie poster is reminiscent of one of the manga covers depicting Briareos cradling Deunan after having landed from just such a leap.
• Some of Shirow's character sketches show Briareos as black before his body replacement. He was originally supposed to be of Carribbean origin. In a flashback sequence during the 2004 movie, he is instead shown to have been Caucasian. In Ex Machina, Briareos openly expresses disapproval at Athena's choice of Tereus as his temporary replacement, accusing her of using Briareos's own DNA to create Tereus (who is Asian in appearance) in the former's likeness.

Name

Presumably, given the cyborg system he was given is apparently named "Hecatonchires" (in reference to its ability to handle numerous simultaneous systems), it's not his surname? Or was it named after him (which doesn't make much sense given the aforementioned relevance to the nature of the cyborg system)?
