Contested deletion
[edit]This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because... Sir Brian Jenkins (Brian Garton Jenkins) is an ex Lord Mayor of London, an important office that originated in 1189, and appears in the list of Lord Mayors of London on wikipedia. He is an important figure in the worlds of chartered accountancy, business and charity, and a published author. He was considered important enough for the Queen to award him a GBE in 1991.
I am in the process of adding citations to back up the article and would appreciate more time to complete this work.

- @Dinuraeditions: I've declined the speedy for two major reasons: the first is that he received the Knight Grand Cross of the Order of the British Empire and the second is that he served as the Lord Mayor of London. Either one is enough to overcome a speedy deletion, but together they show that it's very likely that he would pass notability guidelines. I'm not overly familiar with the award, but it would certainly give some notability if not total notability, and being mayor of a large, notable city would be enough to establish notability as well, if not total notability. Basically, this is the type of person that would have to be deleted via AfD, but offhand I think that it's very likely that Jenkins would pass, so I'd prefer that this get improved rather than nominated for deletion.
