Hey, Lethargilistic, Liz, and Thryduulf—I'm looking at the edit history of this page and trying to figure out what happened. It looks like it should have been a straightforward {{db-move}} situation, but that hasn't been the case. Can one of you explain what happened? If I'm reading things correctly, Lethargilistic made a speedy deletion request, but the template was removed by Liz with an edit summary that I don't understand. Lethargilistic then brought the page to RFD. That request was closed by Thryduulf with a pointer to WP:RM/TR, but no corresponding edit was made there. Am I missing something, or are we chasing our metaphorical tails here? - Eureka Lott23:06, 19 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
My only involvement was closing the RfD with a pointer to use WP:RM/TR not RfD for moves that cannot be completed if a redirect is in the way (per the RfD instructions). As I know nothing else about the situation I didn't make a request myself, I leave that to someone who actually thinks the page should be moved (I have no opinion). I thinkLiz is saying that instead of nominating the move target for deletion, the nominator should instead have made a move request for the source page. I'm not sure what relevance Twinkle has to that though (I don't use it). Why Lethargilistic interpreted that as "request deletion at RfD" I have no idea, especially as there are instructions in multiple places, including an edit notice, directing people to RM in such circumstances. I made the speedy delete request. Liz deleted the template and told me to use the Javascript gadget Twinkle to mark it for deletion. I used the Javascript gadget Twinkle to marks it for deletion. If the Javascript gadget Twinkle put the request on the wrong page, that's suboptimal, but shouldn't be a confusing issue, IMO. If any one of you would please delete this redirect, I could take care of the subsequent steps in less than five minutes. It's literally blocking a move from "Brian L. Frye (filmmaker)" to "Brian L. Frye". There's no disambiguation necessary, a clear G6 speedy delete. The "(filmmaker)" note is just an artifact from the Draft stage that didn't get sorted out properly. Thanks. lethargilistic (talk) 08:28, 20 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
