Anti-abortion
[edit]This entry should include Giroir's opposition to abortion, including fetal tissue research, and his support for needle exchange programs and buprenorphine/methadone, which was reported in many WP:RSs.

Conflict of Interest Cleanup Required
[edit]Much of this article was written by a few accounts that have few or no edits to other articles and have been warned, without response, for their potential conflicts of interest - specifically, User:CrosswindPR and User:dphil6. It clearly needs a rewrite to address these problems. Fiachra10003 (talk) 11:02, 25 April 2020 (UTC)
Lede
[edit]An editor deleted some of the lede, saying it wasnt needed, because it was covered in the body. But the lede is meant to cover the most notable part of the body - it is completely redundant. --2604:2000:E010:1100:E1AA:F8C3:26D8:C6EE (talk) 17:18, 13 May 2020 (UTC)
Awards
[edit]I'm currently working on updating the awards and placing them in the correct order for a USPHS CC officer. I got the awards corrected to what they should be, but I'll need to fix the graphics for the ribbons so they all have the same size, they look a little wonky right now. Images not needed
[edit]I'd removed some images, and was reverted by @Neovu79. Perhaps we could decide what the purpose and quality of the images are, and whether they are worth keeping. I propose we remove them.
I said the images were "excess and poorly-composed" because there are 5 images in that section, all of which broadly depict the subject of the article participating in some ceremonial process, during a 4-year period. The photos to the right depict Giroir with his colleagues (Adams and Trump), and depict his status as a uniformed officer, so it is unnecessary to have another photo of Giroir and Adams (upper-left photo) wherein both men stand before flags and emphasize those same duties. The composition of that photo is weak because the crop obscures Giroir's arm and rank insignia, and the room lighting casts both reflections and shadows off of Adams' face. The lower-left photo has obvious aspect ratio problems, and the slatted background, despite being true to life, is a messy composition due to its crooked alignment and inconsistent lighting.
It was asserted that "The photos reinforce his direct commissioning, which is not a common way that most uniformed officers receive their commision." I think only one of the left-side photos reinforces that, and moreover, direct commissioning is the most logical and usual way for a person in Giroir's position to be inducted into this uniformed service (political appointee with no career service in the USPHSCC). It doesn't really seem like a fact that requires emphasis, but we could do so better by linking to Direct commission officer in the text, without the photos. TheFeds 17:49, 8 June 2024 (UTC)
- With all the effort taken to nit-pick the issues with each, why not just submit a request to fix those lighting and cropping issues? There is a forum board somewhere wiki, I can't recall where, that you can make those request. I seem to recall that SuperWIKI made quite a few requests to that board. Secondly, it's been four days, I doubt you'll get any traction with forming a consensus. Neovu79 (talk) 06:23, 11 June 2024 (UTC)
- @TheFeds: Here, on the Commons Photography workshop. SuperWIKI (talk) 06:45, 11 June 2024 (UTC)
- I'm aware that you could maybe re-crop one photo to frame it a little better. And maybe the other one merely has an aspect ratio metadata issue that won't require a messy horizontal stretch. But those technical options aren't useful (to this article) if the actual content of the images is redundant or minimally important in the first place. What do the left-side images add to the article that isn't already on the right side or infobox, or clear from the text? TheFeds 08:03, 11 June 2024 (UTC)
