History and architecture
[edit]It's good to see some input into the article. Some of the content has been reverted and agreement is needed on what is appropriate here. Bank Hall isn't actually in Bretherton, although less than a mile a way, so while a mention is good, most of the information should be left to Bank Hall. Similarly Carr House is apparently worth a mention. It would be good to dig out some history of the village itself, to provide balance. ProfDEH (talk) 22:18, 9 October 2009 (UTC)
Bank Hall IS in Bretherton, nt in the village its self, but that is why it was built away from the village so the pesants werent on the door step but it is most certainly in Bretherton. I agree that most info should be kept to the article but surely a little should be said about the place. Also same for Carr House, i have tried to add a little about the village history, and will add more when i have time and dig it out. Bankhallbretherton (talk) 22:26, 9 October 2009 (UTC)
bank hall
[edit]Bank Hall is mentioned twice in the article. I am sure there is much more to the village and concerned that this article doesn't become yet another Bank Hall article. See WP:UNDUE--J3Mrs (talk) 23:01, 30 November 2010 (UTC)
- Its a pity an editor is attempting to hijack this article into yet another Bank Hall clone, an edit in the section above says it all. It's not easy to find info on these small settlements with reliable, neutral references but I found quite a bit on Bretherton. It would be a pity for this article to deteriorate just because of one editor's determination to add interminable references to something that already has more than its share of articles.--J3Mrs (talk) 09:56, 1 December 2010 (UTC)
- You just have a problem with Bank Hall and anything to do with it, how can you basically say that this article shouldnt include information or reference to it the villages largest building and house, which for the past 400 years has had an impact on the village and the main voluntary group for the village? Im sorry but you can research things and add them in but at the end of the day you dont know the facts so i suggest you dont bother making unpleasant comments.Bankhallbretherton (talk) 17:42, 1 December 2010 (UTC)
I have removed more trivia WP:UNDUE and WP:NOADS--J3Mrs (talk) 09:23, 11 February 2011 (UTC)
- Reference to a website that includes your user name adds to the argument for POV and undue weight being given to trivial details. You have been told this by other editors. --J3Mrs (talk) 19:08, 12 February 2011 (UTC)
So anything you dont agree with shall be called trivia then... even though it is pure fact and clearly referenced, the referenced article and website is NOT managed by myself and i have nothing to do with it. So i am very much so valid to use it wether or not my username is the name of the subject of the website, its totally irrelevant and a poor excuse! Bankhallbretherton (talk) 00:43, 13 February 2011 (UTC)
- I refer you to Wikipedia:Tendentious editing. It is the promotion of a pet project and pov pushing that is against Wikipedia guidelines. And to be clear trivia is trivia even with a reference to the action group website.--J3Mrs (talk) 09:14, 13 February 2011 (UTC)
- Maybe you need to realise that you need to know the place your editing about before doing so. If you knew the village of brwetherton then you would know that what i have added is not trivial and is true and im not trying to promote bank hall i am simply including information regarding the village being known for snowdrops. If people now read the bretherton article they would not know that there are snowdrops at all, now you have removed the info. I dont see why you need to edit every page i edit on and why you have got involved with this page as it is obviously out of your general knowledge area. noteable people
[edit]what do you mean bullet points encourage "other none notables" i dont see anyone in the list who is not notable out of the two in it... anyway look at Blackpool see how many are noteable there and thats in bullet points! i dont think it really matters if its bulletted or not if somone wants to add it then unfortunately they will. JMRH6 (talk) 00:54, 29 July 2011 (UTC)
- I don't know who assessed Blackpool but it is not the standard of article to aspire to as it consists mostly of lists. The section you refer to is unreferenced. Try looking at some Good Articles, that's how I learned.--J3Mrs (talk) 10:10, 3 August 2011 (UTC)
Blacklisted Links Found on the Main Page
[edit]Cyberbot II has detected that page contains external links that have either been globally or locally blacklisted. Links tend to be blacklisted because they have a history of being spammed, or are highly innappropriate for Wikipedia. This, however, doesn't necessarily mean it's spam, or not a good link. If the link is a good link, you may wish to request whitelisting by going to the request page for whitelisting. If you feel the link being caught by the blacklist is a false positive, or no longer needed on the blacklist, you may request the regex be removed or altered at the blacklist request page. If the link is blacklisted globally and you feel the above applies you may request to whitelist it using the before mentioned request page, or request it's removal, or alteration, at the request page on meta. When requesting whitelisting, be sure to supply the link to be whitelisted and wrap the link in nowiki tags. The whitelisting process can take its time so once a request has been filled out, you may set the invisible parameter on the tag to true. Please be aware that the bot will replace removed tags, and will remove misplaced tags regularly.
Below is a list of links that were found on the main page:
