A fact from Brent Knoll Camp appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the Did you know column on 30 January 2011 (check views). The text of the entry was as follows:
|
"....which is more correctly referred to as the "Knoll at Brent""
[edit]Why? In my experience it's always shown on maps as, and known as, Brent Knoll. The statement seems to derive from this edit by an IP user at Brent Knoll in 2007. I'll remove it from this article pending any further evidence. Ghmyrtle (talk) 10:06, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
Which Infobox?
[edit]I notice that this article uses a "Historic site" infobox. Other hillfort articles use an "ancient site" infobox (including a few that I have created). So which one is best suited to an iron age hillfort site? Just want to see what the general consensus is, and whether or not there should be an agreed uniformity? Pahazzard (talk) 12:29, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
- I would be happy with either. I use the historic site one because it includes a field for the "Scheduled Ancient Monument" designation, which ancient site doesn't, and have therefore been using it on List of hill forts and ancient settlements in Somerset for the articles I create. I have also seen Template:Infobox megalith used on some. To get consistency would need agreement from the various wikiprojects involved (& then would be a major challenge to replace those already used).— Rod talk 14:15, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
- I don't see a need for all hill fort articles to use the same infobox, as every one has a character all of its own. It's a bit like our articles on members of the House of Lords not all using 'infobox peer': where the subject is best known in some other role, for instance as a poet or as an archbishop, another infobox is likely to be more appropriate.
- I am not the cleverest user when it comes to designing infoboxes and adding fields to them, but I don't see why the ancient site infobox shouldn't have a field for the Scheduled Ancient Monument designation. Is it worth asking an infobox wizard to fix that fault? Moonraker (talk) 22:41, 7 July 2011 (UTC)
