Vandalism

[edit]

This article is being constantly vandalised with unverified information by a user calling themselves FootballGlory, who is clearly using the article to make personal attacks. I have removed their comments from the article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 119.225.85.97 (talk) 02:26, 11 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support, but the nominator's rationale is insufficient. As has been determined at a hundred previous RMs of this sort over the years: If the diacritic can be sourced as legitimate for the subject at all then it is retained, regardless of the lazy habits of English-language publishers. We only remove it when the subject him/herself expresses a clear and consistent preference that it not be used (as with, e.g., Stana Katic not Katič, and various American celebs who have dropped Spanish diacritics from names like González). This is the case with this subject and his family; see archived copies of BrendonSantalab.com at [1] and [2].  — SMcCandlish ¢ ≽ʌⱷ҅ʌ≼  06:53, 3 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support per improved rationale of SMcCandlish. Dicklyon (talk) 07:43, 3 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support - This isn't the same as our recent (not well discussed) Anglicisation of the BLP of Puerto Rico's only Olympic Gold medalist. In this case apart from the Adelaide In Daily it seems that Australian newspapers which do use Croatian surnames for Croatian nationals, don't use them for this Australian-born player. The above discussion is preserved as an archive of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on this talk page or in a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.
