Type & type & type
[edit]Re: The word type is also used to indicate a 'style of appearance' or 'working style characteristic' of a particular kennel or breeding line. This terminology is incorrect.
You are right; I'm just trying to document the uses, since people use the word 'type' so many ways -- it gets pretty baffling trying to figure out what is being talked about. --Hafwyn (talk) 21:41, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
How comes?
[edit]" Modern breeds of dogs are refinements of older dog types, bred so that all closely resemble each other, and documented in a stud book kept by a breed club or major dog registry. A purebred dog is a dog of a documented modern dog breed that has been selectively bred to emphasize breed type for the sport of competitive conformation dog showing."
What about primitive breeds ? What happened to purebred working dogs, such as hunting or Livestock Guardian breeds? several had never been at a show and still somehow keep being purebred. Had seen mutts with show champion titles as well, can examplify if needed. A purebred dog is the dog that fits the purpose of breed origination and still functional. The article needs correction --64.111.158.60 (talk) 08:07, 10 January 2010 (UTC)
