Lack of reference, bias and contradictions
[edit]As I read the article, I find a lack of reference, biased opinion and contradiction right from the start. The Estado Novo regime kept relations with both sides (Allies and the Axis) in search of the most benefits it could get from either sides. The Companhia Siderúrgica Nacional (CSN) was given to Brazil for its support of the Allies. There were both pro-Allied and pro-Axis groups within the government, as well as pressure from civil society for Brazil to support the Allies, which it finally did.
It is wrong and a simplification to say that because Estado Novo has some fascist traces, it was fascist. The Integralist (fascist) coup attempt of 1937 failed and Getúlio Vargas cracked down on that movement, só it is not precise to bluntly say Estado Novo is fascist and, worse even, make a direct relation of this assumption with Brazil's foreign policy, seeing support to Nazism that didn't happen (só you're left with a contradiction).
Another strange statement is that Brazil had a "traditionally isolationist policy". This is not true. We were alongside the Allies in World War I and WWII. We are a founding member of the League of Nations and of the UN. Abueno97 (talk) 18:45, 24 December 2023 (UTC)
