radical textectomy
[edit]I just did a major shortening of this article, partly to remove redundant See Also items, but mainly to remove the section about new cells in adults. It was off the mark -- the things it said are more or less true for neurons, but that is already covered in the neuron article or should be, and glial cells replicate pretty much like any other cells in the body, as I understand it. - I agree. I've long wanted to redirect this to neuron, but am stuck on glia being brain cells too. --Tryptofish (talk) 18:07, 12 October 2009 (UTC)
- This seems like a reasonable redirect. I doubt when most people think "brain cell", they'd be looking for anything related to glia. But to solve this problem, we could add the following hatnote to the top of Neuron - {{Redirect|Brain cell|Glial cell}}, which would appear as:
- —Zach425 talk/contribs 20:30, 12 October 2009 (UTC)
- That would work for me. Thanks for suggesting it. What do we think? --Tryptofish (talk) 21:06, 12 October 2009 (UTC)
- As there have been no objections, I've implemented this change. —Zach425 talk/contribs 08:49, 8 January 2010 (UTC)

Copyvio
[edit]I was gathering some brain stats and noticed the rather odd wording of "...physical support for the amazingly thin dendritic and axonal processes..." and did a lol at the "amazingly" bit. I googled and found that it has more or less is copypasta from the book Rita Carter – The Human Brain Book, An Illustrated Guide to its Structure, Function, and Disorders, ISBN 978-0-7566-5441-2 as found in the PDF except on this web site http://rnawrocki.com/excerpts.htm Fromthehill (talk) 07:35, 23 April 2012 (UTC)
- Gah. I got rid of that, and pretty much everything else in the article along with it, and replaced it all with a couple of straightforward sentences. This article basically shouldn't serve to do anything except direct the reader to the neuron and neuroglia articles. Thanks for pointing out the problem. Looie496 (talk) 21:55, 23 April 2012 (UTC)

[edit]I am improving this page for a class project under a supervision of Mr.Bohrer (user:tbohrer74) at Waynesville High School — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jlim 2013 (talk • contribs)
- It is not an improvement to the page or to the encyclopedia at large to duplicate material already covered elsewhere (at brain) with better writing and better references. If there is material that you have that can expand on the section brain#Cellular structure, add the material there. Adding the material here creates a content fork, which is strongly discouraged.
