[edit]I am trying to figure out how to use this in the proper way. Evidently, I am not succeeding. Will continue to try to do this right, but, if you have suggestions, feel free. In fact, you can claim what I did as your own, if you wish. That way, I may be able to see how to properly do this editing or adding information.
For the teacher: Using a tool such as the brace and bit, you can do a lot of language development. Children can assign categories: tools, woodworking equipment, drills. They can name the tools used: ie., brace, bit, drill bit, wood bit. Parts of each tool can be identified; Brace: ie., chuck, clamps inside the chuck; spindles made of wood; handle, shaped like half the letter "H;" gears, gear release, etc. Bit: ie., sharp teeth, cutting blade, side blade for keeping the wall of the hole smooth, shaft, six-sided ended for inserting into the chuck is a hexagon, etc. The purpose of the brace and bit can be identified: to make holes in wood.
importance
[edit]I wonder if this should be mid- or high-importance. I believe it may have enough historical value to merit "high" but it is not used much anymore. Second opinion? Erk|Talk -- I like traffic lights -- 02:44, 20 November 2006 (UTC)
