"Bra'tac seems to have the ability to determine someone's honesty by peering into his eyes. Whether this is some sort of supernatural ability or merely the result of many, many years of experience is never explained."

As there is never any indication in the show that Jaffa - or Bra'tack - have any supernatural ability in that area, while there is mention of his many years of experience, why is that first statement even in the article? --Tim4christ17 23:00, 28 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

lol

I've removed that statement from the article since, though he does possess skill in detecting falsehood, he's been deceived and mislead on numerous occasions; it's not any sort of infallible art or mystical skill. JBK405 20:36, 8 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Age

[edit]

While Tretonin gives Bra'tac the same advanced immune system as a Jaffa with a symbiote, does it still give him the same long life. I believe Teal'c mention in the first episode that the symbiote is what give a Jaffa such a long life. This would seem to mean that the Jaffa do not naturally possess a long lifespan

It's their advanced immune system and extreme healing abilities that give them such a long life, since their organs don't fail and they don't succumb to outside influences as easily as normal humans do. If he's got the same internal protection, his lifespan should be exactly the same. JBK405 20:33, 8 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes but they have no immune system or healing abilities. As seen in several episodes, without the symbiote, Teal'c and other jaffa are suseptible to even minor diseases. Also, Teal'c was unable to heal rappidly with tretonin as he was with his symbiote.

I meant the advanced immune system offered by the symbiotes; you're right, they don't actually have one of their own. It has been mentioned that Teal'c doesn't heal as quickly with Tretonin as he does with a symbiote, so maybe his lifespan isn't quite as along, but it's definitely superior to humans.
